Hopjack’s Pizza Kitchen & Taproom Offers A ‘Fun Spin On The Traditional Taproom’

Located along Palafox Street in the heart of downtown Pensacola, Hopjack’s Pizza Kitchen and Taproom has been serving up awesome eats and cold brews since 2008.

 

Owner Joe Abston says Hopjack’s has always been laid back with a come as you are — from ties to tattoos — mentality. Abston’s vision for opening his establishment was to provide a destination for downtown and the surrounding areas where they could have a place to gather and enjoy craft beer and great eats seven days a week. So how would he describe Hopjack’s to someone who’s never been?

 

“An eclectic and fun spin on the traditional taproom,” he says.

 

The beauty of Hopjack’s is that there’s no shortage of beers for people to enjoy, as they stock a large variety of brews in bottles, cans and on draft. Hopjack’s will typically carry about 54 types of bottles in stock on a week-to-week basis, while showcasing 112 beers on draft.

If you go thirsty at Hopjack’s you are clearly doing something wrong. Abston says he also makes a conscious effort to carry beers from local breweries.

 

“We have representation from dozens of local breweries that stretch up and down the Emerald Coast and throughout the Southeast,” he says. “As Pensacola’s original craft beer bar since 2008, we’ve been showcasing local brews and import beers for almost a decade.”

 

A look at the beer menu, which can be viewed HERE, offers up brews from Idyll Hounds Brewing Company, Funky Buddha, Pensacola Bay Brewery, Proof Brewing Co., Grayton Beer Company, Destin Brewery, Gulf Coast Brewery and Oyster City, just to name a few.

 

Hopjack’s also features a menu full of killer pizzas, pita folds, burgers, wings and snacks. To check out the full menu, CLICK HERE. If you haven’t had the herb-roasted duck pizza, you’re missing out. Oh, and did we mention the Belgian Fries that are cooked in duck fat?

 

“Our eclectic menu also offers bar favorites and new traditions such as the Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffle Bowl and giant Bavarian pretzels,” Abston says.

Hopjack’s offers Hoppy Hour six days a week, Monday through Saturday from 4:20-6:20 p.m., which includes half off on shareables, $5 signature cocktails, $1 off wine by the glass, and $1 off taps.

So what makes Hopjack’s the place to be in Pensacola? Well, for Abston, that’s easy.

 

“The variety of craft beer, cocktail and food offerings in a relaxed atmosphere that’s open every night with a full food menu until 2 a.m.,” he says.
